GPAC Takes on VEGAS!

Posted on by Anya Essiounina

The Price School has an incredible student organization called GPAC: The Graduate Policy Administration Community (http://gpacusc.org/). GPAC works together with the Price School to put on amazing events, such as nonprofit and local government case challenges, professionalism workshops, and networking happy hours. GPAC also plans the annual trip to Las Vegas. GPAC’s Social Committee rents buses, gets us rooms, and maps out entertainment. They did a grrrrreat job!

We have recently just returned from the trip, and it was an amazing experience! We had fun. We had adventures. We bonded.

The trip started out at the courtyard to the Sol Price building, the two buses taking off around 11 am. Although we did hit some traffic (it was MLK weekend), we watched Hangover (a must-see for a Vegas trip) and made use of the many treats that the Social Committee packed for us.

Staying at the Paris, Las Vegas hotel—all on the same floor!—was fun. I’ve never been to Vegas with such a big group, but the Social Committee coordinated everything so well. The weather was perfect. The decorations for Chinese New Year were up. And we had an incredible time!

The best part of the USC Sol Price experience is the relationship that you make with your fellow students, and this trip helped solidify that relationship. As part of Sol Price, you will join the Sol Price family, and realize that you have an incredible bond with your fellow students.

I’m excited to embark on a trip to San Francisco in March with the Sol Price MPP and MPA gang for the Bay Area Policy Forum. That, too, is going to be an amazing journey!
